The Colorado State women's basketball team is back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016.

The Rams landed a No. 12 seed in the tournament and will play No. 5 Michigan State in the first round. The game will be in Norman in a region hosted by No. 4-seeded Oklahoma. Game time has not yet been announced.

This is the second NCAA Tournament appearance under 14th-year CSU coach Ryun Williams and the seventh in program history.

How Colorado State made the 2026 NCAA Tournament

CSU enters the NCAA Tournament with a 27-7 record, which is the second-most wins for the Rams under Williams trailing only the 31-2 team in 2016 (which also made the NCAA Tournament).

CSU tied with UNLV for second in the Mountain West with a 15-5 conference record and the Rams were the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament due to tiebreakers.

The Rams faced a big deficit in the quarterfinals against No. 6 Grand Canyon before rallying to win 61-59 on a Madelyn Bragg buzzer-beater.

CSU then beat longtime nemesis and No. 2 UNLV 66-59 in the semis despite Ram star Lexus Bargesser going down injured in that game.

The Rams faced upstart No. 9 seed Air Force for the Mountain West title and dominated in the second half for a 56-42 win to secure the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

CSU sits No. 70 in the NCAA's NET rankings. Big wins for the Rams in the regular season included over UNLV, at Gonzaga (a future Pac-12 foe and the WCC champion) and at Oregon State (another future Pac-12 foe).
