Image of car involved in Markham hit-and-run released; 3 suspects wanted in carjacking

York Regional Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses after a female pedestrian, 19, suffered life-altering injuries in a hit-and-run collision in Markham during which she was carried for 50 metres on the suspect vehicle’s hood.

On Feb. 19 at 3:41 p.m., a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Denison St. and Featherstone Ave. and was located 50 metres east of the intersection after being struck.

She was transported to a trauma centre, where she remains in critical condition.

Investigators are appealing to drivers who were in the area and may have dashcam footage, particularly vehicles equipped with continuous-loop recording systems such as Tesla models.

New video of the collision and suspect vehicle’s route has been released to help identify the driver.

The footage shows a 2016 to 2020 Aegean Blue, four-door Honda Civic with winter tires striking a pedestrian.

The suspect drove into oncoming traffic to proceed through a red light at Middlefield Rd., turned northbound, and was later seen travelling eastbound on Highglen Ave. in a dangerous manner.

Investigators said that anyone who assists the suspect in concealing, repairing or altering the vehicle to avoid detection is committing a criminal offence of accessory after the fact and may face charges. This includes any person who performs or arranges body work, paint work, or mechanical repairs intended to hide damage caused in this collision.

SUSPECTS SOUGHT IN STAGED CARJACKING

York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses and seeking suspects following a staged carjacking in Markham.

Cops said on March 3 around 11:40 p.m., at Hwy. 407 and Warden Ave., the victim had his Black Rolls Royce forcefully taken from him by suspects after their vehicle, a white sedan, hit him from behind.

The victim says he exited the vehicle to assess damage and was assaulted by two suspects who fled the scene in the Rolls Royce with a third suspect following in the white sedan.

The victim sustained minor injuries and the three suspects are described only as male.

3 CHARGED IN HAMILTON SHOOTING

Hamilton Police have charged three people from Peel Region in connection with a shooting and robbery on March 3.

Cops said on that day two victims attended the area of Concession Rd. 6 E. and Centre Rd. to sell vape pens, but upon arrival, they were robbed of their property and their motor vehicle.

During the robbery, cops said one of the suspects discharged a single round from a firearm. No injuries were reported.

The stolen vehicle was recovered a short time later in Peel Region.

Two 18-year-olds and one 19-year-old are jointly charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and robbery with a firearm and one count each of theft of motor vehicle and reckless discharge of a firearm.

At the time of the incident, all three accused were youths so their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
