Jordan Lawlar got things under way at Camelback Ranch, by cranking the second pitch of the day for his team-leading fourth home-run of spring (below). It was a nice little blast, a 382-foot shot with an exit velocity of 103.7 mph. Unfortunately, it was largely downhill from there for the D-backs. That would be the only run they would score all afternoon, with just four further hits and a pair of walks the rest of the way. Half of both categories came off the bat of Luken Baker, who went 2-for-3 with a walk: both knocks had EVs in excess of 100 mph. The other hits came from Tim Tawa, who doubled, and LuJames Groover.

Brandon Pfaadt got the start, allowing one run over his 2.2 innings of work, on two hits and two walks, with four strikeouts and a hit batter. Kade Strowd got tagged for three hits and two runs in the fourth, and Joe Ross allowed the final LA run in the fifth. The latter was, at least unearned, resulting from one of two errors made by Arizona on the day. There was also this play which was both impressive and scary, Jordan Lawlar taking Ryan Waldschmidt out at the ankles. Jonathan Loáisiga looked the best of the relievers, striking out two of the three batters he faced, and Brandyn Garcia worked a hitless ninth with one K, keeping up his momentum to be the lefty in our bullpen.
