NFL salary cap officially set at $301.2 million for 2026 season

On Friday, the NFL informed all 32 teams that the salary cap has been set at $301.2 million for the 2026 season. This cap number represents an increase of $22 million from last year, and allows each team to know exactly how much money they have ahead of NFL free agency.

According to Over The Cap's updated projections, the Atlanta Falcons have $9,117,519 available for 2026. Of course, that number does not include the reported release of wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge. Assuming the team does cut Hodge, it would free up another $2.64 million before NFL free agency begins.

With the release of the official 2026 salary numbers, we now know exactly what Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts will make on the franchise tag. According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Pitts will earn $15,045,000 this season.

The Falcons have other key free agent decisions to make, including what to do with linebacker Kaden Elliss, kicker Zane Gonzalez and punter Bradley Pinion. NFL free agency officially begins on March 11.
