Lam hopes for Leigh response after Wire thrashing

Leigh Leopards boss Adrian Lam says he hopes his side mount a response when they face Warrington Wolves again in the Challenge Cup on Saturday.
Lam's side were thrashed 42-6 by the Wire last weekend, in a humbling display which means they have lost five of their opening seven Super League games in 2026.

The 2023 winners make the same short trip back to the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday hoping to reach the semi-final stage for the second successive season.
"Every week is a good opportunity to kickstart the season," Lam told BBC Radio Manchester.
"Whilst there's a heartbeat there's hope and I feel very disappointed with the way we played last week, hopefully there's a better response to that.
"We can control a lot of our actions that we did or didn't do last Saturday so we've got an opportunity to turn that around."
Warrington put seven tries past Leigh last weekend with Adam Cook scoring a consolation on a tough afternoon for the Leopards.
Should they be knocked out by the Wire, they will miss out on the chance to win silverware until later in the season, however Lam is relaxed and still thinks they have plenty to learn from the tie.
"We've experienced that every year, every player experiences that. We want to stay involved in it," he added.
"It's something that we've enjoyed with the experience a couple of years ago and there's no reason why we can't do that again.
"But we need a better performance and a better effort this week and hopefully we get that."
