That news came early Thursday morning via a post by U.S. President Donald Trump on his Truth Social account , calling her a “great American patriot” and “loyal friend,” who “faithfully served” the President during her tenure.

“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in crime across our Country, with murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900,” Trump wrote in his post.

“We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.”

The post also said Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche would be stepping in to replace her in an acting capacity.

Bondi, Trump reportedly had contentious relationship

Widely described as a “Trump loyalist,” Thursday’s ouster came one day after a New York Times report suggested thoughts about replacing her began months ago as the President grew increasingly frustrated with how she handled the Epstein files, as well as her leadership of the U.S. Justice Department — including her reluctance to investigate and target Trump’s political foes.

Bondi’s departure came one day after Trump and Bondi travelled together to the U.S. Supreme Court — the first time a sitting U.S. president has attended oral arguments as the court mulled the legality of an executive order limiting birthright citizenship.

Bondi was sworn in as the U.S.’s 87th attorney general in February 2025.

Born in Tampa, she spent 18 years as a prosecutor before becoming Florida’s first female attorney general, serving in that role from 2011 to 2019.

In 2019, she was named by Trump as special advisor in the Office the White House Counsel,

As of Thursday afternoon, Bondi is still listed as attorney general on the U.S. Justice Department website.
