Will it be the addition of a wide receiver on the outside? Will the Raiders add a running back to their offense? Is Las Vegas content with the idea of drafting Indiana's Fernando Mendoza to form a quarterback room consisting of the Heisman Trophy winner, along with Aidan O’Connell, or is another reserve needed?
These questions hold weight at this juncture of the offseason, with just over three weeks to go until the start of the 2026 NFL Draft. There are five veteran free agents who answer the Raiders’ questions on paper.
1. WR Stefon Diggs
Stefon Diggs is one of the most prolific wide receivers still available in the open market. Diggs went for 1,000 yards in 2025 as a member of the New England Patriots with 1,013.
The Maryland native did have 10 games with less than 50 yards receiving last season, while also bringing in his second-fewest receiving touchdowns in a season with four. Nevertheless, his outstanding hands are what a rookie quarterback like Mendoza needs out of the gate in the NFL.
2. RB Najee Harris
Najee Harris is the 1,000-yarder in the ground game that the Raiders have the chance to sign to play behind Ashton Jeanty next season. Harris is working his way back from a torn Achilles that he suffered in Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Raiders have expressed interest in the California native. Harris is slated to meet with Las Vegas on Thursday. He brings a combination of grace and power to the ground game.
3. RB Kareem Hunt
Hunt offers much to be desired in the open market. The 30-year-old went for 611 yards in 2025 as well as eight rushing touchdowns. Hunt also registered 143 receiving yards last season.
The Ohio native comes from Andy Reid’s high-octane offense in Kansas City. He has capabilities not only in the run game, but also as a pass-catcher that presents the Raiders with a potential secondary back that they did not have in 2025.
4. QB Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson, as well as Kirk Cousins, are two quarterbacks of note that the Raiders also have the chance to sign to play behind the anticipated Mendoza next season.
Wilson started in three of the six games that he played for the New York Giants in 2025 before being replaced by Jaxson Dart in the lineup. The former Super Bowl champion completed a career-low 58 percent of his passes last season, though he showed flashes of brilliance in spurts throughout the year. A franchise pillar like Mendoza stands to gain from feeding off of Wilson’s savvy as a dual-threat quarterback, as well as his intangible traits.
5. QB Kirk Cousins
Cousins is a playoff-tested quarterback who also has veteran qualities to bring to the team. He registered 1,721 passing yards as well as a 10-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio in 10 games played last season as a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
