Sunderland Urged To Keep Hold Of Their Star Forward: Should Le Bris Comply?

In a recent interview, former scout Mick Brown urged Sunderland to keep hold of their star forward Brian Brobbey beyond this summer. Brown said,

“Brobbey has become a really important player for Sunderland.

“It’s clear the manager likes what he brings to the team, so I can’t imagine they’ll be looking to sell him already, no matter who comes in.

“Sunderland did a fantastic job with their recruitment in the summer and it’s been a really strong season for them, and Brobbey has been very impressive.

“He looks a handful to play against. He’s strong, will back into defenders, battle them, fight them, run in behind, and he’ll score goals as well.

“That makes him such a valuable player to have, and Sunderland have had a strong season so they don’t want to lose players already, they want to build on it.

“It would take a huge fee to get him out, and even then, I’m not sure they’d be looking to sell.”

Brobbey’s Impressive Form In English Football

Brobbey is having a decent campaign at the Wearside club as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third during this campaign. The 24-year-old has found the back of the net seven times and earned one assist in 26 matches for Sunderland this season in various competitions.

The Dutch striker is currently one of the best goal-scorers in the Premier League. His current contract at the Stadium of Light will run out in the summer of 2029, so the Black Cats are under no immediate pressure to cash in on him this off-season.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Comply With Brown’s Advice On Brobbey?

Brobbey is proficient at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in on target. He has proven himself to be a capable goal-getter in the Premier League and can even create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third.

The Dutch forward is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area. When fit, he is one of the first names in Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris’ teamsheet.

Thus, the Black Cats would be wise to keep hold of Brobbey for the long run. He has what it takes to be a top player for the Wearside club in the coming seasons.

At 24, Brobbey’s best years are ahead of him, so Le Bris would be wise to comply with Brown’s advice by retaining the striker’s services beyond this summer.
