WHO ARE PANAMA?
Ranked 33rd in the world (27 places above Bafana Bafana), Panama, known as Los Canaleros or La Marea Roja, have grown into one of the stronger sides in Central America. They made their World Cup debut in 2018, Russia, where Felipe Baloy scored their first-ever goal on that stage. The development continued with qualification for the 2026 World Cup, finishing top of their group in the final round.
Under the Danish-Spanish coach Thomas Christiansen, Panama have found consistency, reaching major finals in the region while building a balanced squad led by experienced captain Aníbal Godoy. With attacking players like José Fajardo and Ismael Díaz, they come in organised, confident, and far from the underdogs they once were.
