The Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams have been connected to a former All-Pro linebacker in NFL free agency.

Bobby Wagner is one of the top free agents left on the market, and Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes the Cowboys and Rams are the best fit for Wagner.

"Given his age, Wagner would make the most sense for a team with serious Super Bowl aspirations. He'd be a great addition for the Los Angeles Rams, who employed Wagner in 2022. The Cowboys would also make sense for Wagner, given their need for defensive improvements and lack of quality linebacker depth," Knox said.

Wagner is still a high-quality starting defender who tallied 162 tackles and eight tackles for loss with the Washington Commanders in 2025. The 36-year-old earned second-team All-Pro honors in both 2023 and 2024 with Washington as well.

The Rams could use an upgrade over Omar Speights at middle linebacker to pair with 2025 breakout star Nate Landman, and Wagner's savvy veteran playstyle would be a nice fit on Los Angeles' defense.

Signing Wagner would also be a reunion, as the future Hall of Famer spent the 2022 season with the Rams before parting ways with the franchise in 2023.

As for the Cowboys, they have a dire need at linebacker next to DeMarvion Overshown that Wagner could fill. The 10-time Pro Bowler would be a low-cost, highly effective solution for the Cowboys' defense.

Wagner should be able to find his next, and maybe even final, NFL home soon. Though he is no longer an elite player, he's still one of the better linebackers in football and could bring tremendous value to a contender or an ascending team needing a veteran presence on defense.
