Man charged with human trafficking; Man wounded in Hamilton shooting

A man is accused of human trafficking in Hamilton and police are concerned there may be more alleged victims.

Hamilton Police alleged that between June 2025 and this month, the man “trafficked multiple victims, advertised sexual services online, and financially benefited from the exploitation of those individuals.”

They also allege “that he used violence and controlled substances to exert control over his victims.”

Michael Smith was arrested and appeared Wednesday in court, where he was remanded into custody. His age and charges were not released.

MAN WOUNDED IN HAMILTON SHOOTING

The hunt is on for the gunman in an early Friday shooting that left one man with serious injuries in Hamilton.

Police were called around 4 a.m. to an apartment building on Hess St. S. for a shooting and located the victim, who they said was taken to hospital and is expected to survive. They did not release his age.

Officers also found “a firearm nearby which is believed to have been used in the incident.”

The suspect, who fled on foot, is described as a male with light skin and a medium build. He was wearing a grey shirt with white logo, black boxer shorts, and white socks.

“Police believe this to be a targeted shooting.”

HUNT FOR TORONTO B&E SUSPECT

Toronto Police have released an image in their search for a male who broke into a business east of downtown.

The incident happened Tuesday around 10 p.m. in the Eastern Ave. and Leslie St. area. The male forced entry into a business and damaged the cash register, taking an undisclosed amount of money from it. He also stole the debit machine.

Police were notified on Wednesday around 8 a.m.

The wanted male is described as white and was wearing a blue hooded jacket, dark pants, and black running shoes with white soles.

MALE STABBED IN TORONTO FIGHT

A fight led to a stabbing in east-end Toronto early Friday.

Toronto Police say the incident happened in the Brimley Rd. and Lawrence Ave. E. area around 3:35 a.m.

The male stabbed made his own way to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The other male was arrested. No other information was immediately released.
