ACC Championship cements Duke in record-breaking history

The Duke Blue Devils defeated the Virginia Cavaliers Saturday, marking their third ACC Tournament title in the last four seasons.

With their victory against Virginia, Duke put the finishing touches on what has been one of the most successful collegiate seasons in the history of Division I athletics.

Duke became the first FBS school to ever win a conference championship in football, a men's basketball conference tournament and a women's basketball conference tournament all in the same academic year.

For a refresher, Duke defeated the Virginia Cavaliers in overtime of the ACC Championship in football, winning by a score of 27-20 in overtime. Then in March, both Duke basketball teams took home the ACC title.

The women's team struck first, defeating Louisville in overtime by a score of 70-65. Finally, Saturday saw the men's team win their second consecutive ACC Championship, defeating Virginia 74-70 in a back and forth matchup.

With the NCAA Tournament right around the corner, both the men's and women's teams will hope to lift the title, putting an exclamation mark on an already incredible collegiate season.
