SPRINGBOKS SONG – FROM AI TO ANTHEM

This week, Cape Town singer Anslin Gysman officially debuted They Don’t Know What We Know, a song commissioned by SA Rugby as the Springboks’ anthem.

This song is for everyone of you who dares to dream beyond what the naked eye can see!

Gysman – a finalist from season three of The Voice SA – revealed that he was invited to audition to sing the song and became overwhelmed by emotion throughout the process.

“I cried real tears because it felt as if I could sense the healing and restorative properties of this song for South Africa…I haven’t felt this warm on the inside for a long time.”

The lyrics of They Don’t Know What We Know – based on the Afrikaans tagline “Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie”, made famous by UFC fighter Dricus du Plessis, was originally created by an artist named Skiwi, who is a Springbok fan.

Skiwi used AI to create the song’s tune and visuals, which went viral on social media.

He shared on his Facebook account: “What an incredible journey. I feel deeply honoured that something I wrote for the love of the team and our country has grown into something that so many people are connecting with.

He added: “Seeing thousands and thousands of comments from fans across South Africa has been incredibly heartwarming”.
