This Sunday the cycle continues. As shown by our recent meeting with Manchester United the opposition won’t go down without a tough fight. But a team who’s knocked them down before can do it again.

Chelsea team news: Just before the latest international break we beat Manchester United in the Women’s FA Cup 2-1 in the competition’s fifth round. It wasn’t an easy task as we needed extra time to finish the job. But we did it anyway and it can be a portent of things to come this Sunday.

The nearly three-week long break bode well for the recoveries of defenders Kadeisha Buchanan, Mille Bright and Natalie Björn from their respective injuries. However that wasn’t the case for forwards Mayra Ramírez and Catarina Macario, who likely won’t be back on the pitch this season.

Manchester United team news: Although we were the superior side at Kingsmeadow in United’s FA Cup loss to Chelsea at the end of last month, they kept things quite close until the very end of the match. Goalkeepers on both sides worked very hard to hold their respective forts and they are expected to do the same at Ashton Gate.

United head coach Marc Skinner was happy to announce the return of defenders Fridolina Rolfo and Jayde Riviere to the fold from injury. On the other side defender Anna Sandberg and attacker Ella Toone won’t be able to recover in time to face us.

Previously: A 3-1 win four years ago to send Manchester United packing from League Cup contention.
