This match will serve as the first of the two-legged Round of 16 clashes in the UEFA Champions League.
Real Madrid, though, are heading into this game with a slew of injuries, with many of the first-team stars suffering from knocks. One of them, of course, is Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe facing a race against time
As reported by MARCA, Mbappe has returned to Madrid today after spending several days in France trying to treat his left knee.
Crucially, the report suggests Mbappe’s knee has improved, giving positive signs in recent days. But whether or not it will be enough to see him through is the big question.
Everything suggests the striker’s participation against Manchester City in the first leg remains uncertain as he has not fully recovered.

However, his presence has not been clearly ruled out. The Frenchman has two practice sessions – Monday and Tuesday – to try and get up to speed with things.
Although his knee has shown positive signs in recent days, the sheer lack of time he has to train and improve further is something that could work against him.
Mbappe, with 38 goals in all competitions, remains Real Madrid’s most lethal weapon upfront, especially at a time when Rodrygo has been sidelined with a long-term injury.
However, it is unlikely the Frenchman will be able to get himself fit in time to face against Manchester City.
This is good news for Pep Guardiola, who, in contrast, has preserved his star striker Erling Haaland in the recent game against Newcastle United. He is expected to unleash him against Real Madrid this midweek.
