The Boston Bruins have acquired Lukas Reichel from the Vancouver Canucks on Friday ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline.

The Bruins announced the team had acquired Reichel from the Canucks for a 2026 sixth-round pick in a rather low-cost move.

Reichel is 23-years-old and was selected 17th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2020. However, the Danish forward has struggled in the NHL, as he didn’t fit in with Chicago.

The Blackhawks ended up trading Reichel to Vancouver for a fourth-round pick in October.

However, Reichel struggled with the Canucks as he failed to score for the team. Between the Canucks and Blackhawks, Reichel skated in just 19 games, recording two goals and three assists for five points.

Now, months later, Boston gets him for a sixth-round pick, which is a low-risk, potential high-reward move.

With the Bruins, Reichel can be a bottom-six forward and add some youth and speed to the lineup. And, perhaps he can finally find his footing in Boston after being a highly sought-after prospect back in 2020.

Reichel is a pending RFA, so Boston will have control over the former first-round pick.

Boston made one other minor move, acquiring two minor-league forwards from the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Bruins are 34-22-5 and holding onto the final Wild Card spot. Boston will return to the ice on Saturday at home against the Washington Capitals.
