James Harden is one of this generation's best NBA players, as evidenced by his MVP win in 2018. With multiple All-NBA nods, Harden has continued to cement his legacy as one of the best guards of all time. Despite his success, he does not have a championship on his resume just yet.

Now that he is with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he has another chance to succeed as one of the contenders in the Eastern Conference. Harden wants to be the Cavs' catalyst for success, especially since he is getting older.

Harden knows he will be retiring sometime soon

Through the years, there have been many standout guards in the NBA. Only a few have endured for over two decades. One of them is Harden, who has become an offensive hub and one of the steadiest and most reliable point guards in the league.

With longevity comes age, so Harden is on a timer to continue to succeed. He has been chasing a championship for the longest time, but he has already proven that he is a legend.

Harden is only a few years away from retiring, but he does want to succeed. He admits that retirement has been on his mind soon, but he is ready to keep fighting and become one of the top champions of this generation.

"I know it’s coming soon. Hopefully, later than soon, but it’s a reality. Everybody has to go through this at some point. Just trying to continue to keep my body in shape and play well. We’ll see what happens in the next few years. Take one game at a time and cherish the moments," Harden said to Michael Scotto after the Cavs' game against the Nets.

Harden will retire soon because he is 36, but he is not slowing down anytime soon. He is still a fantastic playmaker who is a perfect fit with the lively Cavaliers, who have the perfect pieces to put alongside him.
