North Carolina is one of the country's top states for collegiate sports. With plenty of successful programs, such as the UNC men's basketball team, there's a reason why Chapel Hill is a destination.

The Tar Heels' football program, despite its large lack of success, still generates plenty of revenue. With the NIL world and transfer portal taking over, expect that number to further increase this fall.

In the College Raptor rankings North Carolina men's basketball (22-6, 10-5 ACC) and football are two of the Tar Heel State's Top 10, highest revenue-generating collegiate programs.

Shockingly, UNC men's basketball is not the state's highest-grossing program, sitting fifth at $33.4 million in annual revenue. North Carolina basketball trails NC State football ($77.9 million), Duke football ($68.3 million), Tar Heel football ($66.8 million) and Duke basketball ($50.2 million).

In hopes of having a much-improved basketball roster this season, Hubert Davis landed superstar Caleb Wilson as the crown jewel of UNC's 2025 recruiting class. Davis also secured commitments from the likes of Henri Veesaar and Jarin Stevenson, both of whom are having a major impact on North Carolina's current success.

The Tar Heels spent a hefty sum to land Bill Belichick as their head football coach, guaranteeing him $30 million annually through 2027. UNC greatly disappointed to a 4-8 record in 2025 – and if result don't improve this fall, Belichick's time in Chapel Hill may be cut short.

If you previously attended a North Carolina men's basketball game this season, or any point in the past few years, you know it's a great atmosphere. Kenan Stadium is the place to be on a fall Saturday, with a historic stadium nestled amongst the bright, green trees.
