Nebraska baseball defeats No. 16 Florida State to snap losing streak

Nebraska concluded the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series against No. 16 Florida State on Sunday. The Huskers bounced back big to snap their three-game losing streak, blowing out the Seminoles 10-1.
Nebraska set the tone in the top of the first, chalking up three runs off two hits and a sacrifice fly. The Huskers added two more runs in the third before Florida State got on the board in the fourth. The Huskers then put the game away in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring three runs and two runs, respectively.

Nebraska totaled 10 hits on the afternoon, while Florida State earned two. Gavin Blachowicz (1-0) started at the mound and pitched for 5.0 innings. He struck out six batters and allowed one hit, a solo home run. Colin Nowaczyk fired four strikeouts in 2.0 innings of work before Cooper Katskee closed out the final two innings by delivering four more strikeouts and surrendering one hit.
Dylan Carey put together another stellar performance, going 3-for-5 with a double and a two-run inside-the-park home run for five RBIs. Jett Buck finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Will Jesske, Miken Miller and Joshua Overbeek all earned one hit and one RBI. Cole Kitchens hit the sacrificial RBI. Case Sanderson and Drew Grego both struck one hit.
The Huskers begin their first three-game series of the season this Friday night, when they travel down to No. 9 Auburn. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT on SECN+.
