6 Pensacola area girls basketball teams will play for district titles

A busy week of Florida high school sports postseason action continues today with the girls basketball district semifinals. Below is a recap of which local teams are playing for district titles, which local teams will have to wait for state playoff brackets and which local teams had their season come to an end.
District 1-6A semifinals
No. 1 Navarre 47, No. 4 Crestview 25
Senior Maleeya Brammer scored her 1,000th career point while helping the Raiders advance to the district final.
Navarre (22-3) will host No. 2 Niceville in the District 1-6A final on Feb. 6. The winner will automatically qualify for the Region 1-6A playoffs, which begin Feb. 13.
Navarre beat Niceville 61-51 on Jan. 5.
Crestview (9-18) is eliminated and its season is over.
No. 2 Niceville60, No. 3 Milton 39
Niceville (20-7) will play at No. 2 Navarre in the District 1-6A final on Feb. 6. Milton (16-9) is eliminated and is likely over with loss. The Panthers probably had to win the district tournament to advance to the Region 1-6A tournament.
District 1-5A semifinals
No. 1 Booker T. Washington 64, No. 4 Mosley 38
The Wildcats (18-3) will host No. 2 Pine Forest in the District 1-5A championship on Feb. 6. The winner will automatically qualify for the Region 1-5A playoffs, which begin Feb. 13.
Booker T. is looking for its third straight district title and has already beaten the Eagles twice this season, winning 58-40 on the road on Dec. 12 and 58-45 at home on Dec. 9.
Mosley is eliminated (13-10) but is likely headed to the Region 1-5A playoffs as the No. 8 seed. Booker T. Washington was the No. 1 seed in the region in the most recent FHSAA power rankings, which means these two teams could meet again in the regional semifinals.
No. 2 Pine Forest 57, No. 3 Choctawhatchee 55(Overtime)
The Eagles trailed 27-14 but forced overtime before squeaking by in the extra period to advance to the district championship.
Pine Forest (15-8) will play at No. 1 Booker T. Washington in the District 1-5A championship on Feb. 6. The winner automatically qualifies for the Region 1-5A playoffs, which begin Feb. 13.
The Eagles lost to the Wildcats twice in the regular season, 58-40 on Dec. 12 and 58-45 on Jan. 9.
Choctaw (14-12) is eliminated but will likely qualify for the Region 1-5A playoffs.
District 1-4A semifinals
No. 2 Pensacola 70, No. 3 West Florida 31
Pensacola (14-7) will play at No. 1 Fort Walton Beach in District 1-4A championship on Feb. 6. The winner automatically qualifies for the Region 1-4A playoffs, which begin Feb. 13.
The Tigers haven't played Fort Walton Beach this season, but lost to the Vikings in the district championship and Region 1-4A quarterfinals last season. Fort Walton Beach (20-4) beat No. 4 Bay 71-7 in the other District 1-4A semifinal.
West Florida (5-19) is eliminated and its season is over. The Jaguars needed to win the district tournament to advance to the Region 1-4A tournament.
District 1-3A semifinals
No. 2 South Walton 71, No. 3 Pensacola Catholic 45
South Walton (17-6) will play at No. 1 Freeport in the District 1-3A final on Feb. 6.
Pensacola Catholic (10-17) is eliminated and its season is over. The Crusaders had to win the district tournament to qualify for the Region 1-3A tournament.
District 1-1A semifinals
No. 1 LEAD Academy 63, No. 4 St. John Paul II 16
Lions eighth grader Bryse Burkett scored her 1,000th career point to help the Lions move one step closer to their first ever district title.
L.E.A.D Academy (16-1) will play No. 2 North Florida Christian in the District 1-1A championship on Feb. 6. The winner will automatically qualify for the Region 1-1A playoffs, which begin Feb. 13. The Lions won at North Florida Christian 64-23 on Dec. 12.
St. John Paul II (6-15) is eliminated and its season is over.
Rural District 1 semifinals
No. 1 Jay 54, No. 5 Baker 21
Jay (21-4) won its 12th straight game and will play for a fourth straight district title. The Royals will play No. 3 Laurel Hill in the Rural District 1 championship on Feb. 6.
The winner will automatically qualify for the Rural Region 1 tournament, which begins Feb. 13 with regional semifinals.
Baker (7-11) is eliminated and its season is over.
