A perfect voice just chimed in on the Davis Webb debate

· Yahoo Sports

After Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton promoted quarterbacks coach Davis Webb to offensive coordinator, fans and pundits instantly started debating if Payton will also hand over play-calling duties.

Tuesday brought a new face to the conversation, and it's an intriguing one.

Quarterback Ben DiNucci, who finished the season as Denver's third-string quarterback on the practice squad, caused a stir in Broncos Country when he tweeted, "Davis promoted to OC is best thing possible for that building… have to assume Sean is going to give up play calling now."

DiNucci's contract just expired on Monday, making him a free agent. He has a tradition of tweeting a photo of an airport beer after being cut by NFL teams, but that won't be necessary this time because he lives in the Denver area.

In a follow-up tweet, DiNucci explained that he finds it "hard to believe Davis would agree to be OC without a chance to call the offense."

DiNucci also pushed back on the notion that he was implying Webb would be a "better" play caller than Payton.

He also expounded on why the team was smart not to let Webb leave the building:

Webb served as the team's QBs coach for both of DiNucci's stints in Denver (2023 and 2025), and he has received a glowing endorsement. We'll see if DiNucci's hunch is right.
